Carlen Knight
Registered Occupational
Therapist
Carlen Knight is a registered occupational therapist at Knight Occupational Therapy, known for his precise, clinically grounded approach to Expert Witness Report Writing. With a strong foundation in medical and emergency services, Carlen originally trained as an Advanced Care Paramedic and completed his Master of Occupational Therapy at the University of Sydney in 2015. His early career included a lead clinician role on a LINK-funded research initiative with the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, aimed at reducing frequent Emergency Department presentations. The program’s success led to the establishment of the Working Together to Connect Care model—an innovative, multi-agency approach that supported continuity of care across government and community services.
Carlen brings a deep commitment to clarity, accuracy and functional outcomes in all his reporting. He has produced high-quality assessments across a broad spectrum of needs, including NDIS access and review, TPD claims, vocational evaluations, and family law matters. He is particularly experienced in working with individuals with complex behaviours, including those involved with the Child Protection system, and people from diverse and minority backgrounds.
Carlen’s medico-legal and therapeutic experience was shaped by years of clinical work in varied settings, including a leadership role in a growing regional OT team and report writing for Family Court and other legal contexts. He currently supports clients across Toowoomba and surrounding areas, and remains actively involved in therapy delivery through Kaizenats—a multidisciplinary clinic space he co-directs with long-time colleague Natasha.
Dedicated to ongoing learning and professional development, Carlen has provided national training in the Cognitive Disabilities Model to occupational therapists across Australia. As a former Clinical Lead, he has supervised and mentored clinicians, developed training resources, and fostered reflective practice within therapy teams. He has since gone on to establish two private therapy businesses—each with its own unique focus—allowing him to combine clinical leadership with hands-on therapeutic work and a strong emphasis on evidence-based practice.
